Please wear a Face Mask in Church
Alberta has seen some increased rates of COVID-19 infection, prompting some municipalities, including Edmonton and St. Albert, to pass bylaws making it mandatory to wear masks in all indoor public spaces. The Archbishop has directed that as of August 1, masks must be worn by all congregants throughout the Mass, with these exceptions:
|
Since the dispensation from the Sunday Obligation still applies, anyone who has difficulty or issues with wearing a mask may want to consider staying home and staying safe at this time.
It is important to note that this is a temporary measure that applies to all parishes in the Archdiocese, whether or not their local municipality has passed a mask bylaw. It will be reviewed once the Chief Medical Officer of Health updates her guidance or on December 30, whichever comes first. The full text of this directive can be found on the archdiocesan website at https://caedm.ca/covid-parishes. |
